A clean and dry climate happens to be one of the main ingredients for glorious sunsets. The reason is that light scatters less here allowing more vibrant color spectrums to appear. This color quite vivid...however, needed some camels to appear on range to make it perfect. :-)
Some say pollution contributes to redder sunsets. It’s true that some of the most dramatic sunsets happen following a forest fire or volcanic eruption. But as is in the case of man-made pollutants, sunsets may be more difficult to see, appear washed out and have less color contrast.
Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
