Seeing a lion in the wild while on safari in Tanzania is to appreciate beyond mere words their ability to survive. Their strength and courage impressive. The battle scars are real and are different that those we see that are held in captivity in zoo like surroundings. I love seeing the full mane on the male lion, His roar can be heard for up to five miles and is used to ward off predators. The lion is this image reminded me of the trademark symbol for MGM movies of Hollywood days from my youth as he opened his mouth..

Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Nature is the real artist. I am just one of the tools used to capture its best moments for others to see.
