This aerial view of Mount Whitney, the tallest mountain in the contiguous United States and the Sierra Nevada, with an elevation of 14,505 feet was taken through my passenger window returning to Mammoth from a Palm Springs day trip. The famous jagged ridges and isolated peaks looming far above the tree line were jaw dropping for me to see.

Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
