The Ngorongoro Crater, in the Arushia Region of Tanzania, is a breathtakingly beautiful setting and the best place in East Africa to see the Big Five: the lion, elephant, cheetah, leopard and the rhino. It is a great way to start your African safari; my childhood dream came true. Love this animal’s strength and directness. Coming straight at me; no fear, no aggression, feet planted strongly on the earth, my heart was racing at its size.

Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
