Description
What you will find in Mammoth lakes during the winter is a serene wonderland of frozen lakes and pine forests if you're up for adventure. Summer roads, bike paths, and foot trails, become blanketed in snow, forming winter ski trails but access to many of the lakes is limited by vehicle due to road closures from heavy snow fall.
This image was framed to include the Panorama Dome, Crystal Crag, the old Twin Lake Bridge and the Tamarack Cross-Country Ski Center trails. It's a gateway to paradise situated beside Twin Lakes at 8,600 feet. The lake basin has a great variety of cross country routes, even for beginners, but you’ll want to head to higher altitudes for the most exalted backcountry views.
