Description
Many before me have stood here and photographed this iconic view. It is awe inspiring especially if you can time your visit without busloads of tourists admiring the same magnificence. You can drive, bicycle or walk around the valley floor to be dazzled by her beauty. The Merced River is a slow-flowing scene for swimming, tubing, rafting, and fishing during the valley’s hot summer months but on this day it only supported a few logs.
One of the holy grails of extreme adventure, the imposing cliff on the left is on the bucket list of every serious rock climber. Their amazing skills can be seen with binoculars to watch their slow but steady progression up El Capitan.
