Description
Mono Lake is hauntingly beautiful. It is a majestic body of water that is visible from highway 395 as you drive north from Mammoth Lakes towards Reno, Nevada. It covers about 65 square miles and is considered an ancient lake, over 1 million years old. The lake is most famous for its tufas but I purposely composed this image for the cloud reflections against the shoreline silhouettes of the barren trees because it didn't have the tufas in its composition.
