Sitting on the empty chair lift and looking up at a full moon was a unique experience to have. This view was practically in my backyard when I lived in Mammoth Lakes, within walking distance of the old slow double chair #15 of the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. It has since been replaced with a high-speed quad, and six-seater lifts, traveling at around 1000 feet per minute. Everyone seems to be in a hurry nowadays but that's another story.
Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
