Framed in this image is the backside of Mammoth Mountain and the ski area as viewed from across Lake Mary, the largest lake in the Mammoth Lakes Basin, in Mammoth Lakes, California. I was treated to this spectacular Sierra scenery for many seasons each spring, after the lake thaws.

During the winter, you can not get up to the lakes basin area by vehicle due to road closures by snow so recreational activity is really appreciated during the spring thaw.

Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
