Often we hear the artistic musical talents of keyboard artists while playing jazz but it is difficult to watch the keys because of the way they place the piano on stage. Shooting up at an angle behind the musician just as the afternoon sun rays hit the keys, I was able to capture the fast fingers of Stuart Dennis, the keyboard and vocalist for the lively High Street Band dressed in his colorful lime green jacket.

Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
