Have made many trips to the stunning viewpoints that sit high above the valley floor of Yosemite's National Park's famed Glacier Point. Any trip there is nourishing in nature just to see the grandeur of her display. My intention on this day was to try and capture a sunset from the vista featuring California's iconic Half Dome Geological formation in my composition.

Although this sunset may have been visible from anywhere in Yosemite that day, my efforts were rewarded for the extra long drive up from the valley floor. It was well timed so that I would reach an additional 4000 feet in elevation which permitted me to capture the rich, vivid colors behind the famous California climbing landmark.

Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
