During the summer months in Mammoth Lakes there are amazing skies at dawn or sunset , but unfortunately, sometimes this may be true due to neighboring forest fires in the area.

Such was the case for the backdrop in this sunset image of the life-size iconic bronze sculpture monument, named "Woolly," which was dedicated to founder Dave McCoy of the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area in Mammoth Lakes, California, on his 75th birthday. It was made by artist David Van Howd.
