Artist's Description
The best part of having a camera with a long lens is having it available when you least expect to use it. I was driving to meet an out of town guest at a nearby hotel. This lovely large, lanky, long-necked white heron catching the afternoon sunlight appeared through my drivers window just as I was entering a Marriott hotel driveway in Palm Desert. It waited until I could pull over and grab my gear out of the back seat to capture the image. Surprisingly, this hotel debonaire greeter waited for me before her takeoff flight.

Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Nature is the real artist.
