The cheetah, fastest animal on earth, while high on the food chain it is outranked by larger and more aggressive predators. These predators are the lion, leopard and hyena. They kill adult cheetahs and cubs and steal the cheetah's kills. The first day we saw this cheetah, she had five cubs. By the time, I loaded more film into my camera, and returned to the scene the next day, there were only three. Perhaps, nature had its way.
Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
