Devils Postpile National Monument is located near Mammoth Mountain in the Eastern Sierra mountains of California. It has an unusual rock formation of columnar basalt and considered a geologic wonder. It's less than a mile hike once you get down to Reds Meadow that is accessible by car or bus provided by the national parks association.

Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
