Artist's Description

Anyone who has driven along scenic Highway 395 between Mammoth Lakes and Lee Vining, in northern california's majestic Eastern Sierra has seen the "Abandoned House on Highway 395." It remains standing weathered against the ravages of time, seasons of harsh winters and endless possibilities for story telling... but who knows for how long it will remain?

Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
