Artist's Description

Even though an early wind storm blew all the colorful fall foliage off the trees, a serene setting surprised us when we drove into Bishop escaping from an early snow storm some three thousand feet above. Disappointed at first arrival not to see the fall color, but so happy with the calmness and beauty, my camera went to work quickly before the setting sun to capture these subdued hues of green and yellow.

Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
