Bringing the promise of a new dawn, there's nothing like cloudy skies to enhance the winter sunsets at Mammoth Mountain. Variegated pinks and blues radiating opulence from the mountaintop shout what a glorious day it is to be alive and to have skied another day. My Nikon's capture of this sunset is now embedded in my memory bank account of great times in this gem of a mountain resort.
Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
