This image was taken while enjoying the view looking south, just off of Highway 396, located on the outskirts of Bishop, a small town in the eastern Sierra of California, about 40 minutes drive from Mammoth Lakes. Mount Tom is a large and prominent peak near the city of Bishop in California. It is in the Sierra Nevada and east of the Sierra Crest and located in the John Muir Wilderness.

Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
