Woolly is the famous bronze sculpture, by Douglas Van Howd, that resides outside the main lodge of the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. Woolly is the resort's mascot and is usually seen under blue jay steller skies when first arriving at the mountaintop for a fun winter's recreational day. Visibility was such you couldn't even see the mountain behind him on the day I captured this image.

Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
