A digital conversion to black and white to accomodate a decorating theme, this image originally taken with film and shown in my color collection of silhouette photography. "Woolly" is the popular mammoth bronze statue by artist Douglas Van Howd that is located in front of the Mammoth Ski Area at an elevation of 8000 feet.

Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
