Artist's Description
There is such a thrill to capture wildlife photos in the wild! After shooting a sunrise at the Grand Tetons, I went for a short hike around a wooded area that I wanted to scout for photos to shoot. Unfortueately, it started to rain. I took shelter under the canopy of a tree in the woods and when I turned around this young buck startled me as I had been unaware of his presence. He was right up next to me, staring me in the face. Gently I picked up the camera in hopes to take his photo before he scampered off; he appeared more curious than afraid and let me take this image.
About Bonnie Colgan
Since childhood, Aristotle's quote, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," has been a huge influence on me. I continue to extend and interpret its meaning through my photography as I capture images that hopefully inspire, amuse and gladden. At the same time, perhaps my images will also help document the beauty of Mother Nature and our responsibility to care for her. Following a three decade career in public education, as a teacher and then principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District, I began a new career quite serendipitously as a professional landscape, wildlife and jazz photographer of California's majestic Eastern Sierra mountains.
